Opening Day Recap: Our First Trip Was a Splash Hit!
July 4, 2025 will forever hold a special place in our hearts—it marked the very first official voyage of Wild Pacific Whale Watch, and what a way to kick things off! With perfect ocean weather, glassy seas, and a full boat of excited guests, we launched from H&M Landing aboard our premier vessel Peregrine, ready to make our mark on the San Diego whale watching scene.
And wow—nature delivered.
Just a short ride out, we encountered our first incredible sighting: a majestic humpback whale, surfacing and fluking against a sparkling Pacific backdrop. The calm conditions and bluebird skies gave us crystal-clear views that set the tone for the rest of the trip.
Then came the showstoppers—a pod of around 30 offshore bottlenose dolphins, putting on one of the most spectacular displays many onboard had ever witnessed. They leapt in perfect sync, surfed our wake, and truly seemed to be celebrating with us. The energy was electric.
As we cruised on, a mega pod of approximately 250 common dolphins joined the action, zipping through the water with impressive speed and playfulness. It was a front-row seat to the wild side of San Diego—and exactly the kind of connection we dreamed of sharing with our guests.
But the day didn’t end there…
A Grand Finale on the Bay
To cap off our epic Opening Day, we hosted a sold-out Big Bay Boom Fireworks Cruise, giving guests the best seat in the city for San Diego’s world-famous 4th of July celebration. With panoramic views from both decks, a bar onboard, and a festive atmosphere, we watched the sky explode with color as fireworks launched from multiple barges across the bay. It was a magical end to a truly unforgettable day at sea.
