This morning’s trip aboard The Peregrine was nothing short of spectacular, showcasing one of the ocean’s most dramatic feeding behaviors. A Humpback on the Hunt We encountered a humpback whale actively lunge-feeding, rising vertically through dense schools of anchovies. Watching this massive whale explode upward with its mouth wide open was an unforgettable moment for everyone on board. Lunge-feeding is a specialized feeding technique where humpbacks use speed and power to engulf thousands of fish in a single strike — and today we got incredible, close-up views. Dolphins All Around In the same area, the water was alive with activity as about 700 Long-Beaked Common Dolphins raced, leapt, and splashed all around us. Guests especially loved seeing tons of calves traveling alongside their mothers, learning to surf the wake and leap with the pod. A Morning to Remember With a feeding humpback, hundreds of dolphins, and clear ocean conditions, this morning was one of those rare, thrilling trips where the Pacific felt full of life at every turn.
