There’s nothing quite like the magic of being out on the Pacific Ocean with whales and dolphins all around—and today was one of those unforgettable days! If you’re searching for the best whale watching in San Diego, now is the time to go.
On today’s adventure aboard the Peregrine, we had an incredible encounter with a humpback whale who gave us great looks as it surfaced and fluked just offshore. Watching this majestic giant move gracefully through the water was a highlight for everyone onboard, from first-time visitors to seasoned marine wildlife lovers.
But the excitement didn’t stop there.
We were lucky enough to encounter 150 offshore bottlenose dolphins, putting on a spectacular show as they leapt and rode the bow. These larger, more powerful dolphins are always a favorite, and they didn’t disappoint. Our guests were treated to incredible views and lots of photo opportunities!
Not long after, we found ourselves surrounded by an energetic pod of 200 long-beaked common dolphins—including several baby dolphins! Seeing so many calves this season has been a joyful reminder that the ocean is teeming with life, and we’re witnessing new generations thrive.
The sea conditions were calm and the visibility was stunning, with deep blue water stretching to the horizon. It’s days like these that remind us why San Diego is one of the top destinations for whale and dolphin watching.
