October opened with a spectacular day at sea, filled with wildlife encounters that guests will never forget. 1,500+ Long-Beaked Common Dolphins The ocean was alive with energy as more than 1,500 long-beaked common dolphins surrounded us, stretching across the horizon. Pods merged together in a massive superpod, leaping, bow-riding, and chasing baitfish. Seabirds swarmed overhead, diving in and adding to the sense of a true feeding frenzy. A Quick Glimpse of a Minke Whale Amid the dolphins, we caught sight of an elusive Minke whale. True to their shy reputation, this whale surfaced only briefly before vanishing back below the waves—a lucky sighting for our guests! A Breaching Humpback Whale To top it all off, a humpback whale made an unforgettable appearance. This is the same individual we’ve been seeing over the past few days, identifiable by the striking white underside of its tail flukes. Today, it thrilled us with a single spectacular breach, sending spray flying. Then, just as suddenly, it disappeared into the deep, leaving us with the perfect finale to the trip. A Memorable Start to October From superpods of dolphins to a rare Minke sighting and the drama of a breaching humpback, today had it all. It’s moments like these that make every trip aboard The Peregrine unique and unforgettable.
